General update

It's raining, therefore I have no internet.  This is sad.  So this blog will appear later than the time that it should, but it's being written at 6:57 pm!  (With an update at 11:16 pm.)

I had to charge my phone today.  You wouldn't think that this is an important bit of information, and if circumstances were different, I totally would NOT be excited about this fact.  However.  I got a new phone!  I charged it on Saturday afternoon, and I haven't plugged it in since.  It's been constantly on, sending and receiving texts, and I've made hours worth of phone calls!  Okay, so if my other phone hadn't been so crappy, this would not feel quite so impressive... but with the old phone, I could only talk for 2-3 minutes before the battery would die and it would turn off.  Even when it had just been fully charged.  It sucked.

But I have a new phone, and it is wonderful!!  Yay!!

On another happy note, tonight marked my return to the "Wednesday Night Thing" (a.k.a. "Project Runway Night," "Pushing Daisies Night," and other various and sundry aliases).  This was the first time since rehearsals for The Great American Trailer Park Musical really got under way - I couldn't really skip a rehearsal to go hang out.  Well, I suppose I could, but it would have been a bad idea.  It's nothing too fancy, just food, tv (usually Jeopardy), and hanging out, but I really missed it while I was gone.  I think my favourite part about it is the people - these are people who I can consider my friends, not just people who hang out with me because I'm someone's girlfriend.  Plus, they're all crazy theatre types, and that's fun.

Tonight's menu was Mexican-themed, and I made FLAN!  Okay, that's only significant if you've spent as much time watching The Great American Trailer Park Musical as I have... Tina/Pickles works at the mall foodcourt at a place called "Stand by Your Flan."  Okay, maybe it's not all that funny... but whatever.  I made flan, and it's weird shit.  It's not Jell-o, pudding, or ice cream, but it shares qualities with all of those things... and it's just... weird.  I'm not sure I made it right, since I've never had it before.  It was really sweet.  And it felt weird in my mouth - kind of creamy, kind of squishy, vaguely solid.  Just weird.  And it cracked my casserole dish.  That was sad.  But I'll get a new one, and I'll just have to be careful about making flan in the future.  If I ever make it again.

I want to play in the fog

I was driving home tonight (woot for driving!), and as I drove past Tatnall Square Park, I could see that the lower parts of the park were filled with fog.  It looked so cool!  It was rolling around, like in the movies, which, I suppose, is why movie fog rolls like that...

In any case, I really wanted to just pull over and get out and walk around in the fog for a bit, because it seemed like it would be a lot of fun.  Sadly, the logical part of my brain would not go for it... something about it being 11 pm, and downtown, and dark, and alone... I almost called Blake to see if he'd come play in the fog with me, since it was a block from his place, but the logical bits pointed out that it's bedtime, not playtime.

*sigh*

But the next time I see fog, I'm probably going to get out and play!

Must... sleep...

Okay, so last night sucked.  Well, the part after leaving PRN sucked.  A migraine hit literally moments after I got into the car to go home.  But I still stayed up all night (well, until about 1:30) to bake cupcakes for the baby shower at lunch today.  (The blanket I made for the baby was awesome - 'the softest thing I've ever felt' according to Joy, and HD complimented me on it, too!)

And tonight, I'm up crazy late because Josh and Tams were in town, and I haven't seen them since before they got married.

I REALLY need to sleep.  Also, I have to do stats tomorrow at work.  Yeah.  Sleep would be a good plan.  I'll be more creative tomorrow.

Other things on my mind

So blogging has been a bit truncated these last few days... I've been (and still am) icky. I've got a nasty summer cold, and all I want to do is sleep and blow my nose. I've still had to go to work (apparently it's the thing to do), so once I get home, I mostly crash.

When I'm not sleeping at home, I'm playing with the puppy, who is sad that I've been icky, and has also been sneezy herself. But her appetite is improving. The recent tornado sirens haven't made her feel any better - they get her very unnerved (and do the same to me!).

When I'm not sleeping or playing with the puppy, I'm vegging with a movie, a box of Kleenex (with Aloe and Vitamin E), a glass of juice, and some yarn. I finally finished Stuart's superfun surprise, and he'll receive it next time he's in town. I've started on a lovey for Joy's baby, and I bought yarn for a present for Erin's baby (but I won't tell you what it is, in case she reads my blog!). I also really want to make a Jayne hat for this weekend, but I don't think it will happen, unless I take the knitting along with me to PRN this week.

So I've been mildly productive, if not typing... the computer screen just makes my eyes water even more when I'm sick. But once I'm better - watch out! You won't be able to shut me up!

Cutest Ever!

Woot! I am the "cutest video blogger ever"! (According to my sister.) I had a lot of fun with that video, actually... aside from getting it to upload! You may have noticed that the timestamp on the post says 10-something pm, but you probably didn't actually see it online until the next morning. That's because it took HOURS to get it online! First, my internet was being spotty and conked out a few times, then it was slooooooooow... and then it took forever to process! I finally had to give up and go to bed, because it was after midnight. It finally got fully posted in the morning... but I did have it recorded and posting before midnight!

Luckily, tonight, the internet is being nice to me. Yay!

I spent time in a very mulit-cultural environment tonight - it was Project Runway Night (PRN) at Blake's place. 'How is PRN multicultural?' you might be asking. I'll tell you! There were people from multiple cultures! There was an American, a Canadian, a Brit, and an American-turned-Brit. Okay, so the cultures are fairly similar... but we did have a nice little discussion about the differences we see!

Canadians and Brits butter everything. You name the sandwich, we'll butter it! I've been known to butter my bread to make a PBJ.

Canadians and Brits add extra 'u's to everything. Look at my blog - you'll see the little buggers everywhere!

Canadians and Brits say 'tap' instead of 'faucet,' but Americans use 'tap' to refer to the thing you put on a keg to get beer out (Canadians and Brits do, too).

I won't ask for that special Friday section of the paper at work (the Out & About) because I get laughed at every time I do. The American-turned-Brit gets teased for talking about wearing 'regular' clothes instead of 'normal' clothes. The Americans get laughed at in the other two countries ;).

Also, we had Shepherd's Pie, that ended up being country pie because it had beef instead of lamb. And that is a British/Irish dish.

Maybe next time, I'll make perogies!
