You know what helps your Christmas cards get delivered?

Putting them in the mailbox.

Yeah, it turns out that if you just leave them sitting on your dining room table, they stay there. For some reason, the postman is reluctant to come inside and shuffle through the piles of paper on the table to find the cards. Can't imagine why.

So today, I finally got the cards into the mail. You know, the cards I made in October? Yeah. So much for being prepared ahead of time.

But the cards are in the mail! And with luck, most of them will arrive before Christmas.

I made stuff!

Yes, despite the craziness of my life (which involves much drama (literally), much work, much unpacking (still), and much preparing for my parents' visit), I managed to make stuff this week!

I finished the baby blanket for Rachel-at-work, and decided to give Karen-at-work a baby blanket that I had previously completed, because I think the one I had started on was less gender-neutral than I had anticipated.

The two blankets are similar, made with "Oh My!" yarn for the centre portion (white for Rachel, yellow for Karen), with an outer band in blue/white/yellow "Heaven" yarn, which may be the softest yarn on the face of the earth.

I also modified another pair of scrubs into maternity pants, although I made them differently this time - I found my ribbing when I was unpacking, and I remember putting it aside from the other fabric because I knew I'd need it.  I remember putting all of the other fabric into my sewing cabinet in the closet (which now has a crapload of stuff in front of it), and I don't remember seeing the ribbing (which makes sense, because I remember putting it NOT with the rest of the fabric).  Unfortunately, after looking all over, I still couldn't find where I had put it.  I ended up going to Jo-Ann's, and the woman in the fabric section directed me towards the seam binding when I asked her for ribbing (they're all sorts of brilliant there!), so I ended up just getting a knit fabric that matched the scrub pants.  I only altered one pair of pants, even though Rachel gave me three, because I want to make sure that it'll work.  Cross your fingers - she'll take them home tomorrow, so I should know by Tuesday.

In other crafting, I caved and ordered a stamp set from Papertrey Ink, and I've totally made the prototypes for this year's Christmas and winter holiday cards.  Whee!  And they're all sparkly and pretty.  And I LOVE PTI!  I'd never used any of their stuff before, but the stamps were wonderful and simple and soooo pretty!  I'm a convert.

Feelin' good!

I have had an awesome weekend.  Absolutely awesome.  Did I mention it was good?  Like, really good?

I sat down to write my usual craft update, and I feel like I don't have all that much to post... I mean, I finished one little project, and some cards, but aside from that, all of my work has been on projects that are big enough that I can't finish them in a short time frame.  Plus, I tend to get bored if I work on the same thing for too long...

First, the photos:

Illoria's dice bag!  Now all of the girls in Tanya's clan have special dice bags.  Whee!  I'm thinking that next time we game, I'll take a photo of all of the bags together.

The card for Grandpa and Karen (Yes, I make multiples of cards.  It's easier that way.)

Birthday cards for friends who shall remain nameless (because I haven't sent them yet, and I don't want to give it away).

Second, the list!  These are the projects that are currently in progress, in order of pressing need for completion:

  • Spencer's baby blanket
  • NaNo Hamsterbeans
  • Hufflepuff scarf
  • Rachel's baby blanket
  • Karen's baby blanket
  • Picnic blanket
  • Pillowcase
  • Dance sweater/legwarmers
  • Yellow/white wave blanket
  • Purple/pink/white wave blanket
  • Pink/white granny square blanket

Weekly crafting fun!

It's been a pretty productive week in crafting:

I made a bunch of cards, including a Mother's Day card (not shown, since Mom will be getting it in the mail sometime this week!)

I finished some more of my sweater, and by the time I go to bed tonight, I'll probably finish the first sleeve! Woot!

I'm still working on the picnic blanket, and I've decided to keep better track of where I am, so here goes:
- Motif A, need 96, have 46
- Motif B, need 97, have 1
- Motif C, need 11, have 0
- Motif D, need 10, have 0
- Total needed: 214, have 47

I've also made a pile of earrings, but I don't really have a good way to photograph them yet. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm open to them!

Baking-wise, I made cake pops with the leftovers from carving the ninja cake, and they were yummy! My sister told me about the idea, from Bakerella, and it turned out really well. Also, Lizzie showed pictures of her cake to some people, and I may end up making another ninja cake for someone else. In other cake-related news, I've been asked to make a wedding cake! Holy crap! I'm kind of excited, and I'm already looking for supplies. Whee!

I love making stuff.

I LOVE making stuff! Cards, scrapbooks, socks, sweaters, water bottle covers, plot bunnies... I just like making things. Tonight was a physically productive night (somewhat). It was not so productive in the story department...

I made cards tonight. Birthday cards. There's nothing quite as entertaining as pulling out the bazillion tons of Stampin' Up stuff I have and trying to figure out what to make. Well, no, I knew I was going to make a card, and I even knew which stamps I was going to use (because I bought the stamp set to go with a specific gift! But I won't tell you what it was just yet, because the recipient reads my blog!). All I had to do was figure out what the end product was going to look like. I think I'm pretty happy with the result. I must have been, because I stuck in an envelope and sealed it before I remembered that I wanted to take photos of it. *sigh* Taking photos of my cards was a really good idea in theory. It doesn't actually happen much in practice. I'll work on that.

I made this!

I've made a bunch of stuff this week, and I want to show it off! Check it out:

Socks for my sister

Cards!

And just so you know, I am still writing. I've actually put together another blog for all of my "Take Five" stuff, because I was getting tired of having to fish it out of everything here. I'll still be putting up stories, but I think "Take Five" will just have its own place. Of course, that means that some days, when I don't feel like doing a whole lot, you may just get shuffled over there... But that's okay. The point is for me to write every day. It just might be in another place.
